April 22, 2024: The past few weeks, our members have been busy training.
Several members have attended training at the Cambria County Fire School, completing classes such as Basic Fire Police, Pump Operations 2, and Incident Safety Officer.
Three of our firefighters are also on the Dividing Ridge Wildfire Support Crew. They completed their RT-130 Training. Several other firefighters also completed basic wildland training.
Two members took part in a thermal imaging class, hosted by Richland Township Volunteer Fire Department.
One member is in the process of completing his interior firefighter training in his IFSTA 4 class.
We also held an in-house training on brush fire operations, chainsaws, and portable pumps. Members from Somerset Station 610 took part.
Next week, our members will be present at classes for the final weekend at the Cambria County Fire School, Penelec Training at Somerset Station 616, and in-house training that we will hold for RIT Operations and an SCBA refresher.
March 19, 2024: Today, the OVFC had a second unit licensed for QRS. With the help from a grant from the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, Rescue/Engine 6 was able to be equipped with the necessary medical equipment.

Attention all! Does anyone in the local area wanna be able to serve your community more? Oakland Fire Company is just a few small steps away from being QRS certified which means when there is a medical emergency in our area, we will be right around the corner to assist EMS with you! We would love to get some new faces to join us with helping in this! Is there any EMR,EMT or Paramedics local? No fire experience is needed to run QRS and if you'd be interested in taking an EMR class to become certified we would be happy to help and have you as a part of our team! Please send a message via Facebook or contact one of our members! We are expanding to this to serve our community even more as best as possible.
Oakland Volunteer Fire Company’s social hall is once again available for public rental
The OVFC has re-opened our social hall back to the public for rent. Hall rentals will be $250.00 per day. Call our station at 814-266-5600 for details!
The hall includes the following:
- 2 Restrooms (one includes a utility sink)
- Kitchen with range top stove
- Electrical Outlets
- 2 Refrigerators
- Heat/Air conditioning
- Tables and Chairs (200 person capacity)
- Garbage cans, garbage bags, and cleaning supplies
Payment and hall rental contract must be turned in before use.

We are making our basket party on April 5-7 bigger than ever this year and we need your help! Donations are greatly appreciated and needed to make this year a success.
